DRUMSHANBO - Gunpowder Irish Gin - Sardinian Citrus - 43%
The Shed Distillery is located on the edge of a lake in Drumshanbo in Ireland. PJ and Denise Rigney, along with their dedicated team of distillers, are experimenting with wild grains, Irish flora, and exotic botanicals. The Shed’s has five copper pot stills: 3 focused on Irish Whiskey, 2 on Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin and 2 copper column stills focusing on Sausage Tree Pure Irish Vodka. The stills were especially made by Arnold Holstein in Germany and brought over to Drumshanbo.
The Gunpowder Gin making process begins with a slow distillation with 8 botanicals added to the copper pot: juniper berries, meadowsweet, cardamom, coriander seed, angelica root, orris root, caraway seed and star anise. Then, another 4 botanicals are added to the vapour basket: gunpowder tea, Chinese lemon, oriental grapefruit and kaffir lime.
The creature on the label is the mythological progeny of a jackrabbit (not a real rabbit) and an American antelope (not a real antelope). According to the legend, it was conceived in a lightning storm.
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Sardinian Citrus Gin is the new expression of Gin from the distillery.
