Domaine Bernard Moreau is located in Chassagne-Montrachet, in Burgundy. It was founded in 1809, when Auguste Moreau built a cellar near the Champs Gain vineyard and farmed a few hectares on the hillside. Most of the current vineyard holdings were added from the 1930s on under the stewardship of Marcel Moreau. Bernard Moreau took over the vineyards in the early 1960s at the age of 14, and in 1977, gave the estate his name. In 1995, his son Alexandre joined him followed by Benoît in 2002 and they both lead the vineyards, most of it is in Chassagne-Montrachet, although there are also plots in Saint-Aubin and Volnay. They favour an organic approach to the vine, having, for a long time already, generalised the ploughing of soils and banned all synthetic inputs. A vision which has also been reflected, in recent years, by the use of biodynamic preparations.
