Château Haut-Marbuzet is one of the oldest properties in Saint Estèphe. The vineyard is perfectly located, on gravelly slopes mixed with clay and limestone. The high proportion of Merlot (40%) in the blend gives it an exceptionally soft, mellow character, resulting in Robert Parker describing it as ¿the most sensual wine in Bordeaux¿.
The talent, disarming kindness and warm welcome that is always extended by the Duboscq family, has over many years built a very solid fan base for their supple, rounded wines with well-integrated tannins and intense aromas. Requiring plenty of time to fully express its terroir, Haut Marbuzet is also delightful to drink when it is young, when it offers powerful notes of spices and red fruit. Considered by some to be one of Bordeaux's most Burgundy-like wines, Château Haut Marbuzet was made a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in the June 2003 revision of the cru bourgeois classification.
