It is the estate's great vintage, built for cellaring but which is also often accessible when young after a good time in a carafe. It is made from old vines located in Chailot, surely the most qualitative terroir of Cornas with Reynard, half of which belonged to Noël Verset, Franck Balthazar's uncle.
In 2016, this cuvée transpires the terroir. The nose is fine, fresh and complex on crushed black fruits, hints of spices and then this rose and this violet that we find so often in Franck's wines. The palate expresses itself with finesse and freshness with these soft "chaillotine" tannins which combine structure and elegance. Quite simply, a great wine.
