Located in the wine-growing village of Labastida in the Rioja Alavesa, the magnificent Remelluri estate is nestled deep in the Sierra de Toloño mountains, which form a protective barrier against the humidity and cold of the north. Under the leadership of the second-generation owner, Telmo Rodriguez and his sister Amaia continue to improve and forge a unique identity in Spain's most famous wine region.
The Reserva 2011 comes from a warm and ripe vintage. It is the cuvée that represents the style of the house and wants to highlight the landscape of their estate, by mixing the grapes from their 108 hectares of vines located at an altitude ranging from 550 to 800 meters above sea level, with vines aged 35 to 80.
It is mainly Tempranillo with a little Garnacha and Graciano, fermented with natural yeasts and aged in cask for around 16 months before bottling. There are aromas of plum and lots of spice, quite ripe and heady, a bit cooked. The palate is fat and round with abundant and dusty tannins.
