Active for five generations, Pio Cesare is one of the oldest cellars in Alba and the entire Langhes area. Built along the Roman walls of the ancient part of Alba, the company has existed since 1881. The team, now remodernized but also managed by the family, takes care of 70 hectares of vineyards, included in the Barolo area and Barbaresco. The range, based on a recognizable and traditional style, with hints of modernity, offers tasters a reliable consistency.
A blend of 7 Barolo vintages, the expression of Paolo Scavino's Barolo “village” is a model of the genre very representative of local classicism. 10 to 12 months of aging in French oak barrels. 10 months of rest before marketing.
The color is rather light with a ruby hue. The nose evokes morello cherry and mint as well as notes of sweet spices around vanilla. The oak is subtle and very well integrated. The aromatic maturity of this cru is at its peak. The mouth, cut into a half-body, is both supple and fleshy. The tannins are firm but very ripe with an interesting length.
