Château ANGELUS 2011 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Managed by Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, Angélus has been with his family since 1782 when Jean de Boüard de Laforest, Roy's bodyguard, moved to Saint-Emilion. The Castle takes its name from the fact that you could once hear the Angelus ringing both by the bells of the Mazerat Chapel and those of the churches of Saint-Martin and Saint-Emilion at this precise spot. During the first classification of Saint-Emilion, Château Angélus was classified Grand Cru. The estate certainly enjoys an exceptional terroir but also shows the importance of the footprint of man on the terroir: formerly wines, rich and fruity, lacked elegance; Subsequently, viticulture and winemaking methods were considerably improved under the leadership of Hubert de Boüard, making it possible to distance himself qualitatively from many of his Saint-Emilion peers. In fact, during the last classification review of the appellation, Angelus reached the top step of the podium, becoming Premier Cru Classé 'A' alongside the castles Cheval Blanc, Ausone and Pavie. Green harvest in July, aging in new oak barrels, fermentation in stainless steel tanks with temperature control system, no filtration at bottling. It is now the new generation (the 8th) who joined the management of the estate with Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, daughter of Hubert de Boüard and his cousin Thierry Grenié-de Boüard, son of Jean-Bernard Grenié.
