DOMAINE ARMAND ROUSSEAU - GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 1994
The estate was created in 1902 by Armand Rousseau who, as an adult, inherited several parcels of vines located in the town of Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy. Over the years, he continued to develop his estate by buying Grands Crus such as Clos de la Roche, Mazis Charmes or Chambertin. In 1954, he bought the first Grand Cru Clos-Saint-Jacques on behalf of his son Charles. It is now Eric, the son of Charles and grandson of Armand, who runs the estate of more than 15 hectares including 8.5 hectares of Grands Crus and 3.8 hectares of 1er Crus vinified in sustainable agriculture, with vineyards located on limestone and clay-limestone soils.
Producing exclusively red wines, the estate has established itself with its legendary wines such as Lavaux Saint Jacques or Chambertin as one of the icons of Burgundy. The most beautiful expressions of pinot noir are undoubtedly found in these wines, aged for more than 20 months after 2 rackings with an ageing potential of more than 20 years for Grands Crus, and more than 15 years for 1st Crus.
