REMELLURI - Reserva - Rioja 2012

Located in the wine-growing village of Labastida in the Rioja Alavesa, the magnificent estate of Remelluri is nestled in the background of the Sierra de Toloño mountains, which form a protective barrier against the humidity and cold of the north. Under the guidance of the second generation owner, Telmo Rodriguez and his sister Amaia continue to improve and forge a unique identity in the most famous wine region of Spain.

The 2012 Reserva comes from a warm and ripe vintage. It is the cuvée which represents the style of the house and wants to enhance the landscape of their domain, by mixing the grapes from their 108 hectares of vines located at an altitude ranging from 550 to 800 meters above sea level, with vines aged 35 to 80.

It is mainly Tempranillo with a little Garnacha and Graciano, fermented with natural yeasts and aged in barrels for about 16 months before bottling. There are plum aromas and lots of spices, quite ripe and heady, a little cooked. The mouth is plump and round with abundant and dusty tannins.
