CHATEAU LA NEGLY - La Porte du Ciel 2017
Château la Négly is located in Occitanie, facing the Mediterranean, in the La Clape massif. In the 18th century, the Château was called Ancely. In 1781, the property took the name of Nerly to finally be named La Négly in 1807 and later obtained the status of Château. Several families have succeeded at the head of the domain. The Paux-Rosset family will definitively orient the vineyard in a qualitative production. The cultivation method is modified and the vines are entirely replanted. The neighboring domain of Boède is also rented. With the help of consultant oenologist Mr. Claude Gros, winemaking will be completely redesigned. Together, they bought the Boède estate in 2006 with a third partner, Alain Wittner. Today, Bastien Paux-Rosset, responsible for cultivation, operates these replanted vineyards which extend over 75 hectares (the vineyard covers 50 hectares and that of Boède over 25 hectares). Ideally exposed, the Négly and Boède terroirs are distinguished by the diversity of their soils. In order to better promote these, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre have replaced Aramon, Terret, Carignan blanc. The vineyard is conducted in sustainable farming.
La Porte du Ciel is a blend of Syrah (70%) and Grenache (30%). Malolactic fermentation and aging are carried out in new oak barrels for 24 months.
Grape varieties: 70% Syrah, 30% Grenache
