Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur - Echezeaux Grand Cru 2018
Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur is located in Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte de Nuits, in Burgundy. It was born from the inheritance of the estate of Louis Gros in 1963. Originally, Gustave and Colette (two of Louis Gros's four children) joined forces to create Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur. When Gustave died in 1984, Bernard Gros, their nephew, took over alongside Colette. Bernard successively replants all the plots. He increased the estate by 12 hectares by creating in the hamlet of Concoeur and Corboin, a plot in the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits appellation in high vines. The Domaine's vocation is to produce wines that respect the terroir while reconciling the best of modernity. The property now has 20 hectares of vines divided into 8 appellations.
Throughout the year, the operations carried out in the vineyard follow one another and aim to limit the final yield of the grapes at harvest, while promoting optimal ripening of the latter. The harvest is entirely sorted manually on a vibrating sorting table, to select only the most qualitative grapes, which will give a wine worthy of its appellation. The vinification takes place in the traditional way, in cooled cement vats. Initially, pumping over is applied before the start of alcoholic fermentation and then punching down at a rate of twice a day as soon as alcoholic fermentation has started. For aging, the oak barrels used are Burgundian barrels (228 litres), from the Bertranges Forest. The Domaine buys its own stock of wood which dries and matures in the cooperage for two years. The type of wood toasting will influence the wine.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
