Domaine Jean Michel GERIN - Côte Rôtie - La Landonne 2018
Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin is located on the Côte Rôtie, in the village of Ampuis, in the north of the Rhône Valley. Jean-Michel Gerin acquired his first vineyard plot in Côte Rôtie in 1983. Four years later, he released his first vintage, closely followed by his first wine from a single vineyard: Les Grandes Places, in 1988 and La Landonne in 1996. The estate's most recent release happened in 2009 with the production of La Viallière from a vineyard planted in 2003 in the Côte Rôtie. Today the estate covers nearly 17 hectares and the two sons of the family, Michaël and Alexis, participate in the viticulture. It is in 2020 that the decision is taken to launch the conversion to organic farming.
La Landonne is made from Syrah whose age is 20 years-old and that comes from the 0.4-hectare plot in the locality ofLa Landonne. After total destemming, the grapes macerate for 4 weeks. The aging is carried out entirely in new oak barrels for 20 months.
