TRIMBACH - Riesling 2018
Domaine Trimbach is located in Ribeauvillé, Alsace. It is one of the oldest vineyards in this French wine region, dating back to 1626. The House has been in the Trimbach family for centuries, but it wasn't until 1898, when Frédéric Emile Trimbach received the highest honor for his wines at the Brussels International Wine Fair, that Maison Trimbach started to gain attention and build its reputation. Today, the estate is managed by the 12th and 13th generations of the family: Hubert Trimbach, his daughter Anne and his nephews Jean and Pierre. The estate, now known as F.E. Trimbach, has plots in several vineyards classified as Grands Crus, but one of the most famous is that of the Clos Sainte Hune vineyard. The Trimbach family uses integrated and sustainable winegrowing/making practices, and is in the process of being certified as organic.
The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and are then delicately pressed. Old wooden barrels sit alongside stainless steel vats, then the wines are bottled in the spring following the harvest to ensure freshness and fruitiness. After bottling, the wines are marketed according to their maturity. Some will not leave the cellars until they have spent five or seven years patiently aging in the bottle.
Grape variety: 100% Riesling
