REMELLURI - Lindes de Remelluri "San Vincente" Rioja 2016

Remelluri (Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri by its full name) is located in Labastida in the Rioja Alavesa region of Spain. The estate was founded by monks in the 14th Century. The vineyards changed ownership often before being purchased by Jaime Rodríguez in 1967. In 2010 his children, Amaia and Telmo Rodríguez took over the estate. While the estate has always avoided chemical inputs, organic certification was achieved in 2010.

Lindes de Remelluri means “Borders of Remelluri”. This wine represents a vision of the different terroirs focusing on the distinct styles of the wines of Labastida and San Vincente. This selection comes from the vineyards of 8 winegrowersaround the town of San Vincente. The warmer and drier climate of these sites produces a wine that is less acidic and with softer tannins than that of Labastida. Lindes de Remelluri is a blend of Tempranillo, Grenache and Graciano. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats and the wine aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
