SCHNAITMANN - Lämmler Spätburgunder GG 2017
The Weingut Schnaitmann is located in the community of Fellbach, in the German wine growing region of Württemberg. The traditional family has a 500-year-old winegrowing tradition. The first vintage under their own label was produced in 1997 from what was then a small vineyard of only three hectares. Today, the vineyards cover 24 hectares in several individual locations and municipalities and are planted with the red wine varieties Trollinger, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Lemberger, Muskat-Trollinger, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The conversion to organic viticulture, which has been practiced for years, was completed in 2016 with the certification. The quality criteria are narrow planting distances, low yields, foliage wall design and minimal use of plant protection products (herbicides) and fertilisation.
GG (Grosses Gewächs) distinguishes German vineyards of the highest quality, with aging potential. This wine comes from Spätburgunder grapes from the oldest Schnaitmann vineyard located 400 meters above sea level. Fermentation is traditional, with 80% of the harvest in whole bunches. The wine is aged for 18 months in 300-litres barrels, 50% of which are new.
Grape variety: 100% Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir)
