Domaine de Courcel - Pommard Les Vaumuriens 2017
The Domaine de Courcel is located in the commune of Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy. The estate has four Premier Cru climats planted exclusively with Pinot Noir: Le Grand Clos des Epenots, Les Rugiens, Les Frémiers and Les Croix Noires. Domaine de Courcel has belonged to the Courcel family since the 17th century. Today, the 10.5 hectares of vines on the estate are under the responsibility of Anne Bommelaer and Marie de Courcel. All cultivation techniques are made according to organic farming not certified for land and environmental respect.
Les Vaumuriens comes from 1.44 hectares of vines in the Village appellation, located just above the Rugiens. This plot with shallow white soil (0.3-0.4 meters) faces northeast. The vines are around 40 years old. The vinification takes place over a month. After severe sorting, the bunches are placed whole in the tanks. Cold maceration, followed by fermentation at low temperature, allows better extraction of the aromas. Frequent punching down and pumping over are carried out. A post-fermentation carbonic maceration is then carried out in a manner adapted to the characteristics of each cuvée. The aging takes place in carefully selected oak barrels, the stock of which is renewed by thirds each year. After a thorough extraction of about one month, the wines are aged over a period of 21 to 23 months.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
