Domaine du Coulet - Matthieu Barret - Blanc sur Rouges 2019
Domaine du Coulet is located in Cornas, in the Rhône Valley. It has belonged to Matthieu Barret since 1998. He offers two distinct ranges of wines which are produced on the same convictions: the “Domaine” range which comes exclusively from grapes from the Domaine du Coulet vineyard, very oriented on the expression of minerality and of the terroirs of Cornas. His other range, Matthieu Barret SARL, is based on sharing with other producers. The way to create the different selections is multiple and depends on its partners, their desires and the purpose which must be as close as possible to the vineyard. The vines are cultivated organically and biodynamically.
Blanc sur Rouges is a “friend’s wine” from three different appellations and grape varieties from the Rhône-Alpes region. It is a blend of Gringet Blanc, Gamay and Syrah. The appellations Ayse (with the Gringet grape from Dominique Belluard), Brouilly (with the Gamay grape from Jean-Claude Lapalu) and Cornas (with the Syrah grape from Matthieu Barret) are blended to create this unique limited edition cuvée. The wines are vinified separately by the three estates to guarantee each individual’s identity. The wines are blended two months before bottling, which is carried out at Matthieu Barret.
Grape varieties: 1/3 Gringet Blanc, 1/3 Gamay, 1/3 Syrah
