Domaine ABBATUCCI - Alte Rosso 2019
Located South of Corsica, in the heart of the Taravo Valley and at an altitude of about 100 meters, Domaine Abbatucci is one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Composed mainly of iconic varieties such as Vermentino, Sciacarello or Nielluccio, the 20-hectare estate is home to a unique collection of 18 varieties of endemic varieties that contribute to the preservation of the island’s wine heritage. The vineyard and vinification techniques are in line with the principles of biodynamics since 2000, with, among other things, only manual harvesting and the use of indigenous yeasts.
Alte Rosso Blanc (formerly called “BR”) is made from Barbarossa, grown on granite arenas exposed to the North West. Jean-Charles Abbatucci works in biodynamy with an influence on phytotherapy practices: horse plowing and management of winter weeding with his flock of sheep. The grapes harvested by hand are then meticulously sorted and put into direct pressing in whole bunches. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in 600 litres demi-muids. The aging lasts 9 months on gross lees then the wine is put in steel for 2 months after the blending of the best batches. It is finally aged in bottle for a minimum of 6 months.
Grape variety: 100% Barbarossa
