RAINA - Rosso della Gobba 2018
Cantina Raína is located in Montefalco, in the region of Umbria in Italy. The estate was created in 2002 and is now managed by Francesco Mariano and his friend and assistant Andrea Mattioli. Raina was the nickname of the previous owner of the field where the first Sagrantino vines were planted. The vineyard spreads over 10 hectares where local and international grape varieties are grown. Sustainability is essential for the estate. This environmental sustainability plan does not only encompass the land, but also the cellar, which is equipped with solar panels that provide 70% of all the electricity used on the farm with the remaining 30% coming from renewable sources. Biodynamic agriculture has been conducted since 2012.
Rosso della Gobba is a blend of Sangiovese (70%), Montepulciano (15%) and Sagrantino (15%). The fermentation and maceration on the skins lasts 10 days in stainless steel, with indigenous yeast. Ageing lasts 18 months in stainless steel and cement tanks with a further 6 months in bottle.
Grape varieties: 70% Sangiovese, 15% Montepulciano, 15% Sagrantino
