STELLA DI CAMPALTO - Brunello di Montalcino 2015
Stella di Campalto is located in Montalcino, in Tuscany, Italy. It was founded by the Di Campalto family in 1992, after they acquired the San Giuseppe Winery that had fallen out of use some 50 years previously. Today, Stella di Campalto comprises nine vineyards planted over approximately 7 hectares of land, with the remainder of the estate occupied by olive groves and woodlands. The estate achieved organic certification in 1996 and from 2002 onwards has implemented biodynamic agricultural practices in its vineyards. It has 12 different soil types that radiate around the cellar, this is the reason why the single grape variety, Sangiovese, expresses itself in so many different ways.
The Brunello di Montalcino is made from Sangiovese from 5,40 hectares of vineyards. The fermentation occurs spontaneously with the indigenous yeasts in 35 hectolitres wooden vats. It is aged for 44 months in oak, with a further 18 months in bottle.
Grape variety: 100% Sangiovese
