Domaine Vincent Girardin - Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 2016
Domaine Vincent Girardin is located in Meursault, in the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. In 1980, at the age of 19, Vincent Girardin, from a wine-growing family in Santenay since the 17th century, wanted to gain independence and started with the two hectares of vines inherited from his parents. Very quickly, the quality of its wines was recognised worldwide and allowed him to expand his activity by focusing mainly on the great whites and reds of the Côte de Beaune (Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay , Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Aloxe-Corton, Volnay and Pommard). In 2012, Vincent Girardin sold his activity to a historic partner of the House: Mr. Nié, President of the Compagnie des Vins d'Autrefois in Beaune.
The Meursault Premier Cru Les Perrières comes from Chardonnay vines of around 50 years, located south of the village of Meursault. The grapes are pressed, then settled and the grape must is placed in 228-litres French oak barrels (with 15% new oak) in which the fermentation takes place (alcoholic and malolactic). Aging lasts 18 months on lees, without stirring. One month before bottling, the wine from the different barrels is placed in stainless steel vats for blending. Bottling is done according to the lunar calendar.
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
