Weingut Bründlmayer - Zweigelt 2017
Weingut Bründlmayer is a producer located in Langenlois, Kamptal, northwest of Vienna, Austria. The estate specialises in the production of white wines made mainly from the Grüner Veltliner grape variety. From 1947, a selection of the estate's most beloved wines was stored in the 700-year-old "vinothek" (wine collection) to provide historical records for future generations. Owner Willi Bründlmayer attaches great importance to the ecological balance of his vines and only uses organic fertilizers for the cultivation of his vines. It relies on natural resources: no herbicides are used and the vines are driven just above the ground to maximize the beneficial effects of soil heat on the grapes.
This wine is made from Zweigelt, an Austrian crossing of Blaufränkisch and Saint-Laurent. The grapes are selectively harvested by hand and macerate on the skins for 2 weeks before pressing. The must is fermented in stainless steel tank. The wine is aged for 12 to 24 months in large 2,400-litres Austrian oak casks.
Grape variety: 100% Zweigelt
