PIEROPAN - Soave Classico 2020
Pieropan is located in the denomination of Soave, in Veneto, Italy. Leonildo Pieropan established the estate at Palazzo Pullici in 1880 and since then, successive generations of the Pieropan family have taken on the responsibilities of the estate and its three organically-farmed vineyards: Calvarino, La Rocca and Garzon. An additional winery was constructed in 2005 at Villa Cipolla Pieropan in Tregnago (Verona) in order to produce its Valpolicella Superiore and Amarone della Valpolicella wines. Pieropan also makes a sweet white Recioto di Soave wine from Garganega grapes grown in the Soave Classico region, as well as a sparkling rosé from the Corvina grape variety, and an extra virgin olive oil.
The Soave Classico is a blend of Garganega (85%) and Trebbiano di Soave (15%). The grapes come from a hillside vineyard in the Soave Classico Zone, on volcanic soils, situated at 100 to 300 metres altitude. The grapes are hand-picked, starting from mid-September for the Trebbiano di Soave and from October for the Garganega. The grapes are destemmed and crushed with the free-run juice fermented separately in glass-lined cement tanks. The wine remains in glass-lined cement tanks on the fine lees until its bottling in Spring following the harvest. The wine is left for a further month in the bottle before released.
Grape varieties: 85% Garganega, 15% Trebbiano di Soave
