Domaine de l'Arlot - Clos de L'Arlot - Monopole 2020
Domaine de l'Arlot is located on the Côte de Nuits , just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy . The estate has vines in several prestigious vineyards including two Premier Cru vineyards; Clos de Forêts Saint-Georges and Clos de l'Arlot monopoly. The Arlot vineyard was created in the 18th century when the owner of the property built the surrounding wall. It was later expanded by trader Jules Belin after it was bought out in 1891. Its modern incarnation stems from the sale of the property by Belin's heirs to the French investment firm AXA Millésimes , which also owns several other wine estates. AXA has further expanded the Domaine de l'Arlot holdings with plots of Premier Cru Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots and Grand Cru Romanée Saint-Vivant. Agricultural practices have been organic since 2000 and biodynamic since 2003.
Clos de l'Arlot Monopole is a Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru . The monopoly defines a land unit, a land that has been perfectly defined for centuries and which belongs to a single owner. Le Clos de l'Arlot covers an area of 2 hectares, on a complex terroir with varied microclimates and soils. The harvest is manual and the vinification traditional: a minimalist vatting, pumping over and punching down without excess to reveal all the characteristics of the terroir. Aging lasts 15 months in barrels (with a maximum of 45% new barrels), then 3 months in vats before bottling.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
