Château ANGELUS - N°3 2019
Château Angélus is located in Saint-Emilion , on the right bank of Bordeaux . The estate has been classified Premier Grand Cru Classé A since 2012. The château was so named because of the presence of church bells that could be heard ringing from the original plots of vines, amplified by the natural amphitheater of the hill of Saint-Émilion. The site that is now Château Angélus was added to the de Boüard de Laforest family portfolio in 1920 and by 1985 the estate had 20 hectares of vines. Hubert de Boüard de Laforest then took over the reins of the company and began to introduce more modern ways of doing things. He began to change the vineyard to work as sustainably as possible, which was considered out of the ordinary for a Saint-Émilion winemaker at the time. Hubert de Boüard has multiplied marketing campaigns to restore the grandeur of Château Angélus, in particular after having reached the heights of Premier Grand Cru Classé A. He is associated with James Bond films, a 1982 vintage featured in Casino Royale and a 2005 at Spectre. In 2016, Stéphanie, de Boüard's daughter, bought her father's shares in the property, becoming the sole owner. His father remains co-director.
No.3 d'Angélus is made from a dominant Merlot (85 to 90%). It is aged for a shorter period than the great wine, without the addition of new wood: barrels of one or two wines only.
