AF Gros - Gevrey Chambertin 2020
Domaine AFGros is an estate based in Pommard , Burgundy which produces Pinot Noir at the Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru levels of the communes of Pommard, Beaune, Savigny-les-Beaune, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. The estate is one of three created in 1988, when Jean and Jeanine Gros started sharing their estate (Domaine Jean Gros) between their three children, Michel, Bernard and Anne-Françoise. The Domaine covers 14 hectares mostly planted with Pinot Noir, both in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. A parcel of vines recently acquired in Moulin à Vent (in Beaujolais) completes the range of wines on offer. François Parent, originally from Pommard, is Anne-Françoise's husband. He has been the winemaker of the estate's wines since its creation. Today, two of their three children work on the estate: Caroline and Mathias. The brother and the sister separate one the vinification, and the other the management, the development and the marketing of the wines.
The wines are made in Beaune by a short cold maceration by Anne-Françoise's husband, François Parent, whose share of his family estate (Domaine Parent) was added to the estate when they married. The cultivation of the soil is traditional, in reasoned farming and applies the principles of sustainable agriculture . The wines are aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months. Aging lasts 12 months for the Villages (50% new barrels on average), 15 months for the Premiers Crus (65% new barrels) and 18 months for the Grands Crus (100% new barrels).
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
