The Massenez Distillery is located in Dieffenbach-au-Val, in Alsace . It was created in 1870 by Jean-Baptiste Massenez , a home distiller. In 1913, his son Eugène Massenez distilled wild raspberry for the first time, this eau-de-vie was appreciated by the Queen of Sweden and the distillery became official supplier to the court of the King of Sweden. Gabriel Eugène, the third generation, is developing the reputation of the distillery by associating with high gastronomy with starred chefs like Bocuse and fine restaurants like La Tour d'Argent. A new distillery was opened in 1979 to respond to their strong growth. The brand then developed in 110 countries and diversified its product range. In 2010, Distillerie Massenez joined forces with Grandes Distilleries Peureux . Bernard Baud, President of the Grandes Distilleries Peureux, on the other side of the Vosges and famous for its Griottines, breathed new life into the Distillerie Massenez, while retaining the House's DNA.
An eau de vie is obtained by fermentation or alcoholic maceration of fruits, berries, roots or nuts followed by distillation.
