Altesino - Rosso Toscana 2020
Altesino is located in Montalcino, Tuscany . The imposing 15th century Palazzo Altesi structure was built by the Tuscan Tricerchi family. Since 2002 Altesino has belonged to the Gnudi Angelini family and the technical and productive sectors benefit from the collaboration of Paolo Caciorgna. A pioneer in introducing the concept of “Cru” in 1975, Altesino was the first winery to use barrels in 1979. The estate's philosophy combines a respect for tradition with a forward-looking perspective. The modern winery was built with particular emphasis on eco-sustainability : due to its underground location, it is perfectly insulated. While respecting the ancient territory of Montalcino, the Altesino winery is not only a functional and innovative workplace but also and above all a place with low environmental impact , built according to the precepts of sustainable architecture. Over a total area of approximately 100 hectares, half of which is vines (50 hectares), the six plots extend: one plot to the north (Altesino), one to the northeast (Macina), two to the northwest ( Cerbaia and Montosoli, the premier cru in the history of Brunello di Montalcino), one in the area of Sant'Angelo in Colle (Pianezzine) and one in Castelnuovo dell'Abate (Velona).
Rosso Toscana is a blend of Sangiovese (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Merlot (10%) . The wine is aged for 6 months in stainless steel vats.
Grapes: 80% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot
