Domaine d'Eugénie - Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2020
Domaine d'Eugénie was born from the acquisition of Domaine René Engel by François Pinault in July 2006. It is located in Vosne-Romanée , in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin, in Burgundy . This village is considered the pearl of the great red wines of Burgundy. Since 2009, the Domaine d'Eugénie has been located in the center of Vosne-Romanée in the former "Clos Frantin" which now bears the name "Clos d'Eugénie" . Today, the Domaine is managed by Frédéric Engerer (manager of Château Latour) and a team of two experienced and versatile winegrowers. Significant work has been undertaken to develop a complete and efficient vinification site: the vat room is made up of thermo-regulated wooden vats of different capacities to be able to carry out a strict and precise plot selection, reflecting the diversity and complexity of the terroirs. The Estate produces six wines from 5 appellations and an area of 6.51 hectares which extends over the communes of Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot and Flagey-Echezeaux. In 2009, the Clos d'Eugénie and the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru began their conversion to biodynamics .
Clos-Vougeot from Domaine d'Eugénie comes from a 1.37 hectare plot, located on the upper part of the hillside. The soil is clay-limestone in the upper part, and clay-loam on limestone at the bottom of the plot. The wine is a blend of a cuvée made from destemmed grapes and a cuvée made from whole grapes.
