Storm Wines - Vrede - Chardonnay 2021
Storm Wines is located in the Hemel-en-Aarde region of South Africa . After 12 vintages in the valley of Hemel-en-Aarde ("Heaven and Earth" in Afrikaans) working intimately with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Hannes Storm discovered two small plots with particularly exceptional terroirs . The two vineyards, one in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and the other in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, were planted in 2008 with Pinot Noir. Hemel-en-Aarde benefits from a maritime climate , influenced by the coolness of the Atlantic Ocean, it is considered an exceptional wine region with a cool climate. Small production, careful viticulture, minimal cellar intervention and a constant nod to the Old World present the wines with distinctive personality and character.
Vrede Chardonnay 2021 comes from a northeast-facing hillside in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley with low vigor, stony and clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soil. Only 1,500 bottles were produced.
