Château LA POINTE 1996
Château La Pointe is located in the Pomerol appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. The property dates from 1845, and has been controlled by the Arfeuille family since 1941. Since 2006, it has been owned by the insurance company Generali France . Since then, several key improvements have been made to both viticulture and winemaking.
Château La Pointe is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc . The wine is aged in oak barrels. The 1996 vintage for Bordeaux was extremely good : a mild winter and a warm spring with a month of March bringing significant heat. A hot and dry September favored the ripening of the grapes, which particularly benefited the Médoc. The harvest was a complete success. Cabernet Sauvignon, particularly from the Médoc, has produced tannic, structured, very concentrated wines that are suitable for ageing.
