Domaine Pierre Gonon - Les Iles Feray 2020

Pierre Gonon is a benchmark estate located in the Saint-Joseph appellation, in the north of the Rhône Valley . The Domaine's 10 hectares of vines are located on the best granite sites of Tournon, Mauves and Saint Jean de Muzols, in the original part of the appellation. The vineyards are cultivated organically , with very low yields thanks to the pruning of the vines.

The grapes are harvested as late as possible, at optimal maturity and the harvest is harvested by hand. The Syrah grapes are partially destemmed , then vinified with natural yeasts in large open vats with pumping over and stirring twice a day. The wines are aged for 14 to 16 months in 600-litre barrels , without any new oak .

Pierre Gonon's flagship wine, in terms of production, is his red Saint-Joseph , but he also produces small quantities of an IGP Ardèche Syrah, Les Iles Feray , which spends 10 months in full-size barrels .
