Japanese Ryoma rum is produced by the Kikusui Distillery , located on the island of Kyushu in Japan . It was launched in 2007 and is made from locally grown sugar cane. The name "Ryoma" refers to Sakamoto Ryoma, a 19th century Japanese samurai and politician, considered a national hero for his role in the modernization of Japan. It is considered one of the best Japanese rums on the market.
Ryoma rum is produced from pure cane juice and distilled sugar cane honey. It is aged for 7 years in American white oak barrels .
