Domaine Giachino - Monfarina 2022
Domaine Giachino manages its vineyards and produces wines from organic farming. Wine producers for over 20 years, the vineyards are based in the Chartreuse regional park in the Savoie department. In 1988, Frédéric took over the 1.5 hectares of vines maintained by his grandfather Marius Genton. Since then, the area has been entirely dedicated to the production of grapes. The estate includes several small organic vineyards on the slopes of Mont Granier, encompassing the communes of Chapareillan, Les Marches and Aprement. The complete conversion to organic farming in 2006 is the culmination of a long process.
The name Monfarina is inspired by a traditional Piedmontese dance. Wine is made from Jacquère, Mondeuse Blanche and Verdesse , grown on 3 hectares on the scree of Mont Granier, between marls and large blocks of limestone. After the manual harvest, the harvest is directly pressed in whole bunches. Malolactic conversion is encouraged. The wine is aged for 10 to 14 months on the lees .
