Roberto Voerzio - Langhe Nebbiolo 2020
The Roberto Voerzio estate is located in La Morra, a village in the heart of the Langhe, in Piemonte , Italy . The estate was founded in 1986 when Roberto inherited 5 hectares of vines from his father. Since then he has been one of the most acclaimed producers of Barolo wine. Today the estate covers 8.5 hectares of vineyards around La Morra, with high planting densities producing miniscule yields. There are 6 different plots in a range of Barolo crus: Brunate, Cerequio, Capalot, La Serra, Pozzo dell'Anunziata and Sarmassa di Barolo, all of which are sources of individual cuvées. He also produces some Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba and Langhe Nebbiolo.
Langhe Nebbiolo Di San Francesco is made from Nebbiolo from the town of La Morra, harvested at the end of September. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks and aging lasts 12 months in barrels of 25 hectoliters (30% of which are new) . It is followed by 8 months in steel vats . The 2020 vintage in Piedmont experienced a warmer than average growing season, which resulted in an earlier harvest than usual. The warm days and cool nights were perfect for the late-ripening Nebbiolo, as well as the early-ripening Barbera.
Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo
