Domaine Abbatucci - Alte Rosso 2021
Domaine Comte Abbatucci is located in Casalabriva, in southern Corsica . It is located in the heart of the Taravo valley at an altitude of around 100 meters, and is one of the oldest vineyards on the island. Composed mainly of emblematic grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sciacarello or Nielluccio, the 21-hectare estate is home to a unique collection of endemic grape varieties which contributes to the preservation of the island's wine heritage. The estate is now managed by Jean-Charles Abbatucci and his daughter Faustine . The vineyard and winemaking techniques have followed the principles of biodynamics since 2000.
Alte Rosso Blanc is made from Barbarossa , grown on granitic arenas exposed to the North-West. The whole harvest is put into direct pressing, followed by static settling for 24 to 48 hours. Fermentation takes place in 12 hectoliter Stockinger casks. Malolactic conversion is unwanted and is blocked. The wine is aged in wood on total lees for 12 months , then 3 months in stainless steel vats after blending the best batches. It is finally aged in bottle for 3 to 6 months.
