Avignonesi - Rosso di Montepulciano 2020
Avignonesi is located in the Montepulciano region of southern Tuscany , Italy . The estate was created in 1974 and bears the name of the first founders of the estate, the Avignonesi family. Acquired by Virginie Saverys (born in Belgium) in 2009, it has grown and has at the same time become a leader in biodynamic viticulture in Italy. To date, the estate has expanded to 170 hectares of vines, including the purchase of a state-of-the-art winemaking facility in the Montepulciano appellation. Avignonesi has nine vineyards: eight in Montepulciano and one in the small town of Cortona, northeast of Montepulciano. The rolling hills and varying soil types in the various vineyards mean that winemaker Matteo Giustiniani has a wide range of grapes he can select to craft the wines. Avignonesi is recognized for its innovative research, its experimentation and the quality of its wines, including the prestigious Vin Santo. The estate also produces an olive oil and a Grappa.
