Avignonesi - Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2019
Avignonesi is located in the Montepulciano region of southern Tuscany , Italy . The estate was established in 1974 and is named after the estate's original founders, the Avignonesi family. Bought by Virginie Saverys (born in Belgium) in 2009, it grew and at the same time became a leader in biodynamic viticulture in Italy. To date, the estate has expanded to 170 hectares of vineyards, including the purchase of a state-of-the-art winemaking facility in the Montepulciano appellation. Avignonesi has nine vineyards: eight in Montepulciano and one in the small town of Cortona, northeast of Montepulciano. The rolling hills and varying soil types in the different vineyards mean that winemaker Matteo Giustiniani has a wide range of grapes that he can select for making the wines. Avignonesi is recognized for its innovative research, experimentation and the quality of its wines, including the prestigious Vin Santo. The estate also produces olive oil and Grappa.
