Teeling Distillery is a whiskey distillery established in Dublin , Ireland in 2015 by the Teeling Whiskey Company. The distillery was founded by Jack and Stephen Teeling , whose father, John Teeling, had founded the Cooley Distillery in 1987. John Teeling's two sons, Jack and Stephen, worked with their father at the Cooley Distillery. When it was sold to Beam Inc. (now Beam Suntory) in 2011, Jack, then general manager, left, while his brother stayed for about a year. As part of the sale, the Teelings negotiated the purchase of 16,000 barrels of aged whiskey. Using these stocks, Jack Teeling launched Teeling Whiskey in 2012, and was later joined in the business by his brother Stephen.
Teeling Blackpitts is inspired by the old Blackpitts area behind the new Teeling whiskey distillery. This area was traditionally home to some of Ireland's largest barley maltings. The whiskey is aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and in barrels that contained Sauternes wine .
