Château Barreyre 2020
Château Barreyre belongs to Vignobles Gonfrier . In 1962, Paul Gonfrier moved with his wife to Lestiac-sur-Garonne, in Gironde. He bought the Château de Marsan, at the time in ruins, but surrounded by promising terroirs. In 1998, Paul Gonfrier retired, Eric and Philippe (his sons) brought together all of their activities under a single entity; Gonfrier Vineyards. Today, Vignobles Gonfrier and the trading company vinify more than 1,000 hectares.
Château Barreyre was acquired in 2014 by Vignobles Gonfrier. The 20 hectare vineyard is made up of a clay-siliceous terroir. The age of the vines is around 20 years.
This vintage is a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) . After destemming, the harvest is crushed and placed in vats. A 72-hour cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out to extract the color and fruit. Fermentation and maceration occur in stainless steel vats for approximately 20 days. The wine is aged for 8 months in French oak barrels .
