Clos Maïa - Le Petit Clos 2022
Clos Maïa is located in La Vacquerie-et-Saint-Martin-de-Castries, in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation in Languedoc . The estate belongs to Géraldine Laval , originally from the south of Charente-Maritime. She completed a BTS Viticulture-Oenology in Beaune and completed her first internship at Olivier Leflaive in 2004. From 2005 to 2006, Géraldine completed her national oenology diploma in Bordeaux and assisted Jean-Louis Chave at Hermitage for his 2006 vintage. In 2007, after obtaining her diploma, she relocated to the high altitude terroirs of Terrasses du Larzac. She met Olivier Jullien from Mas Jullien who inspired her in the vineyard and in the cellar. She began her adventure in 2009 with two plots of Grenache planted in the heart of the Cirque de Labeil. Today, the plot extends over 6 hectares cultivated in organic farming .
Le Petit Clos is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault harvested manually and rigorously selected on the plot. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out in whole and destemmed bunches, with light extractions in concrete vats. The wine is racked after malolactic fermentation then refined in concrete vats for approximately 12 months.
Grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault
