Domaine des Closiers - Trézellières 2020
Domaine des Closiers is located in Parnay, in the heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation, in the Loire Valley. The “closiers” were the winegrowers who worked in the vineyards and who lived in the troglodyte dwellings at the foot of the hillside. The estate extends over 15 hectares on clay-limestone soil with vines whose average age is 35 years. The estate has been developed for 5 generations and is today managed by Anatole de La Brosse with Pierre Derouin as Operations Manager and Loïc Yven . The vineyard obtained the High Environmental Value (HVE 3) label in 2017 thanks to the attention paid to the development of biodiversity. The estate has also begun its conversion to organic farming with the assistance of Michel Chevré, technical consultant for the estate and operator of the Clos de l'Écotard.
The Trezellières vintage is made from the eponymous plots of Cabernet Franc located on the clay-limestone hillsides of Parnay. The grapes are harvested by hand then destemmed and sorted. It then undergoes a cold pre-fermentation maceration before the start of fermentation. The total maceration time is approximately 1 month in stainless steel vats, followed by 24 months of aging in Bordeaux barrels .
Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Franc
