Suertes del Marques - 7 Fuentes 2020
Suertes del Marqués is a family estate that has been producing wines since 2006 in the Canary Islands . However, their tradition as winemakers dates back twenty years before this date, growing and selling grapes to other vineyards in the Valle de La Orotava Appellation . The property is made up of 11 hectares of vineyards ranging from 300 to 750 meters above sea level, all with different orientations and soil compositions. In addition, Suertes del Marqués works another 15 hectares with winegrowers in the region on vineyards with altitudes between 250 and 800 meters. At Suertes del Marqués, the team intervenes as little as possible in the production of the wines: using only native yeasts and minimal quantities of sulfur , as well as avoiding racking. All processes in the cellar are carried out manually, from work in the vineyard to the harvest. They avoid any systemic treatment in the vineyard, using only natural products when vine diseases eventually appear. The cellar is equipped with concrete vats of different sizes in which fermentation is carried out. The wines are aged in small French oak tuns of 500 liters and also in larger sizes, from 2,000 to 4,500 liters.
7 Fuentes is made up of 35 plots from regional winegrowers and family property with vines aged approximately 10 to 180 years. The heights of the different vineyards vary from 250 to 800 meters above sea level. This wine is made with two grape varieties: Listán Negro (90%) and Tintilla (10%) . Each plot is vinified separately in small concrete and stainless steel vats. 60% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in concrete vats, and the rest in 500 liter French oak barrels. Aging lasts 8 months ; 60% of the wine in concrete vats and 40% of the wine in French oak barrels .
