Weingut Keller is located in Rheinhessen in the municipality of Flörsheim-Dalsheim , Germany . The origins of the estate date back to 1789 when Johann Leonhard Keller acquired property in the highly regarded Hubacker vineyard - a VDP classified Erste Lage. The family business has been operated by Klaus Peter Keller since 2001.
Westhofen is a wine-growing village in Rhenish Hesse with around 765 hectares of vines. Westhofen is the fourth largest wine-growing region in Rhenish Hesse. There are four VDP Grosse Lagen classified sites in the region: Aulerde, Kirchspiel, Morstein and Brunnenhäuschen. The Kirchspiel vineyards are oriented from east to south, between 120 and 200 meters above sea level with slopes of 10 to 30%. They cover 45 hectares of vines in an amphitheater facing the Rhine. The soils consist of loess and suspended loam with clayey marls in the central area as well as limestone in the subsoil.
Dry wines made from Grosse Lage grapes (the equivalent of Grand Cru in Burgundy) are designated Grosses Gewächs (GG).
