Château La Croix Bonis 2018
Château Phélan Ségur is located in Saint-Estèphe , in the Bordeaux region. It was classified as an Exceptional Cru Bourgeois in 2003. The history of Phélan Ségur dates back to the end of the 18th century, when Bernard O'Phelan, a wine merchant from Tipperary (in Ireland), arrived in Bordeaux. After marrying the famous Guestier family, he purchased the Saint-Estèphe properties: Clos de Garramey and Ségur de Cabanac in 1805 and 1810, creating the Ségur de Garramey castle, and built the Palladian castle which still remains there today. The property took its current name at the beginning of the 20th century. After a century of ownership by the Delon family of Léoville-Las-Cases fame, Phélan-Ségur has belonged since 1985 to Xavier Gardiner , also owner of the Lanson and Pommery champagne houses. The vineyard now extends over 70 hectares.
La Croix Bonis comes from a selection of plots from Château Phélan Ségur, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Merlot-dominated wine is aged for 12 months.
