Domaine Paul Prieur - Pinot Grains - Sancerre Red 2019
Domaine Paul Prieur is located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation in the Loire Valley. The family estate has been managed by Luc Prieur since 2012, representative of the 11th generation. The 14.5 hectare Sauvignon Blanc vineyard is concentrated on the limestone terroirs of Verdigny and Chavignol (Caillottes and Terres Blanches), as well as on the Silex terroirs of the village of Thauvenay. The red wines come from the 5-hectare locality “Les Pichons”, planted in mass selection in the 1950s. The vineyard has been certified in organic farming since 2022 .
Grains de Pinot is made from Pinot Noir coming from the bottom of the place called Les Pichons, whose terroir is clay-limestone. The vinification is partly carried out using whole grapes (20 to 40%). Fermentation begins spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine is aged for 15 months in 228 liter barrels of 1 to 10 wines (70%) and in amphorae (30%) .
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
