Château LAMOTHE BERGERON 1996
Château Lamothe Bergeron is located in Cussac-Fort-Médoc, in the Haut-Médoc of Bordeaux . It has been part of the Crus Bourgeois classification since the 19th century. Between 1970 and 2010, the property changed owners three times. The vineyard is restructured, the grape varieties rebalanced, the cellars renovated. The vineyard covers 67 hectares and has belonged since 2019 to Capssa (provident fund for social security agents and similar).
Château Lamothe Bergeron is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot , supplemented with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot depending on the vintage. The wine is aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels. The 1996 vintage for Bordeaux was extremely good : a mild winter and a warm spring with March bringing significant heat. A hot and dry September favored the ripening of the grapes, which particularly benefited the Médoc. The harvest was a success across the board. Cabernet Sauvignon, particularly from the Médoc, has produced wines that are tannic, structured, very concentrated and suitable for aging.
