Alexis Lichine - Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 1981
Alexis Lichine is an oenologist born in 1913, belonging to the family of a rich banker from Saint Petersburg who fled to the United States, then to France during the October Revolution of 2017. He is nicknamed the “ Pope of Wine ” . He worked as a sales manager for a wine merchant and understood the potential of the American market for French wines. He then divided his time between New York and Bordeaux where he founded his company Alexis Lichine & Co, which he sold 11 years later to the British. In the 1960s, he bought Château Prieuré-Cantenac, renamed Prieuré-Lichine.
Clos de Vougeot is a climat located in the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy . This Grand Cru is made from traditionally vinified Pinot Noir .
