Domaine Robert Denogent - La Croix 2022
Domaine Robert-Denogent is located in the town of Fuissé, in the Mâconnais in Burgundy . The Denogent family started its wine business at the beginning of the 20th century: Andrée Robert (née Denogent) is the owner of 5 hectares of vines. His son, Jean-Jacques Robert, took over the operation in 1989 and changed its name to Robert-Denogent. In 2006, the eldest son Nicolas joined his father on the estate, followed by his brother Antoine in 2012. Since 2015, the two non-conformist brothers have been in charge of the property. They breathe new life, influenced by emblematic winegrowers from Beaujolais, Jura, Savoie and of course Burgundy. The vineyard extends over 13 hectares, divided into 30 plots and offering a diversity of terroirs, exposures and altitudes. Nicolas and Antoine follow an artisanal approach to produce “farmer” wines: respect for biodiversity, few interventions, limited use of sulfur, no filtration.
La Croix is made from Chardonnay coming exclusively from plots in Pouilly-Fuissé. The vines are cultivated on loamy and schistose soils on finely fragmented volcano-sedimentary rock, the average age of the vines is 75 years. The winemaking is natural, without input and very little interventionist. The wine is aged for 19 months on fine lees : mainly in different wooden containers (228 liter Burgundian barrel, 350, 400 and 500 liter barrels, 600 liter demi-muids and tuns), but also in stainless steel vats, enameled and ovoid concrete .
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
