Domaine Ghislaine Barthod - Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru - Aux Beaux Bruns 2019
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is located in Chambolle-Musigny , in the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy . The family property is managed by Ghislaine Barthod, her husband Louis Boillot and their son Clément. The vineyard extends over 5.86 hectares in the commune of Chambolle-Musigny and in the neighboring commune of Gilly-les-Citeaux. The average age of the estate's vines is over 30 years and yields are always modest; vigorous pruning and occasional “green harvests” are practiced.
Ghislaine Barthod follows traditional winemaking methods and carefully ages her wines. The grapes are partially destemmed before entering the fermentation tank. Only natural yeasts are used: the slower start encountered when working with native yeasts gives the must a natural period of maceration before the start of fermentation and the duration varies from 2 to 5 years. After fermentation, the wines are racked into small barrels (around 20 to 25% of which are new) and aged for around 20 months.
Aux Beaux-Bruns is a Premier Cru climat from the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. Its terroir is made up of marl with a high proportion of limestone. The soil is deeper and slightly more clayey than in other parts of Chambolle-Musigny, which is why the wines produced in this small vineyard are denser than some of their southern counterparts.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
